FAQ

Making the decision to get permanent make-up done can be a challenging one. Many are often unsure of what to expect, which can understandably lead to some anxiety. At distINKED beauty, we hope to empower you with knowledge so that you feel at ease when you book and during your appointment. For any additional questions not covered here, please reach out to us!

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing technique. It is performed by using a handheld tool consisting of micro needles in the form of a blade. Natural hair strokes are mimicked by scratching the surface of the skin and infusing them with pigment. Unlike regular tattoos, the pigments used are made up of smaller particles rather than concentrated inks and aren’t applied as deeply. This results in natural, fuller looking brows that can last anywhere from 1-5 years. It is a great way to enhance your beauty with tailored brow shaping to compliment your features.

Who is a candidate?

Semi-permanent brow tattooing is a great, low-maintenance option for those who may have uneven or sparse brows. It can be beneficial to those who have hair loss or thinning due to aging, alopecia, trichotillomania, or other factors. Microblading is also great for those who lead an active lifestyle without having to worry about their make-up smudging or running from sweating or swimming. Most people over the age of 18 who would like to achieve symmetry and fullness to their brows are candidates. There are, however, a few exceptions...

Who isn't a candidate?

Microblading is not recommended for the following:

  • Anyone under the age of 18.

  • If you are pregnant or nursing.

  • If you had Botox or Filler done less than 3 weeks before your appointment.

  • If you are allergic to numbing creams or pigments.

  • If you are on certain medications such as Accutane, blood thinners, or if you have a condition such as diabetes, are undergoing chemotherapy, etc. Please contact us if you have questions about a medication you may be taking.

  • People with skin conditions such as keloid scarring or melanoma.

  • Clients that have psoriasis, eczema, and/or acne. We might have to wait until there are no active flare-ups in the brow area.

  • Those with iron deficiency. This may result in poor pigment retention.

Is it safe?

Your comfort and safety is our top priority. The facilities are thoroughly maintained on a regular basis, the highest standards of sanitation and sterilization are used throughout the appointment. Only sterile, single-use needles are used with every client. Your artist will wear gloves and a mask for the duration of your appointment.

Does it hurt?

Topical anesthetic is used before and throughout your appointment, however, you will still experience some discomfort. This typically only occurs in the beginning of the procedure but may vary by client.

What if I change my mind? Can it be removed?

The initial tattoo can take approximately 1-2 years to fade, but it may never entirely disappear. PicoWay laser treatments and saline tattoo removal are a few options that can aide in fading away your microblading. However, results are not guaranteed. It is important to consider these factors before committing to this procedure.
